Minister of Youth

Hi my name is Bryan Parrish and I am the new Youth Minister here at Carver Road.  As way of introduction I would love to share some of my story with Christ and how I have gotten here. 

I was raised in a family that was very faithful in church attendance and service.  Though I was raised in the church, it was not until I was a freshman in college that I finally realized the necessity of a relationship with Christ instead of the false securities that come from religion.  Through a series of events, the Lord revealed Himself to me as more than stories or ideas; rather, He was the God of the universe that was committed to me though I was not to Him.  I went from someone that had a mere knowledge of God and His works to someone that received Truth and a life from Christ - A relationship with the King of the Universe.

Upon being born again I began for the first time ever to read the Bible.  It was like nothing I had ever experienced.  It seemed like life poured off of every page and the more I was learning the more passionate I became about Christ.  I wanted to just stand up and scream how tremendously awesome He is.  I began to wander if God was calling me to serve Him.  After time in prayer and talks with my Pastor I surrendered to the call that the Lord placed on my life. 

My Pastor suggested that I attend the same school that he did for my education and training, Liberty University.  So before I knew what was happening I was on my way to Lynchburg Virginia to begin my preparation for the ministry.  I went to Liberty to learn how to be a pastor, but what I found is that I learned how to live as a Christian.  I really thrived at Liberty and loved everything there.  I was blessed with Godly professors and lived on a hall with people that took an interest in me and discipled me.  God truly worked on me.  While at Liberty I received an undergraduate degree in Biblical Studies and a masters degree in Church Ministries.   

I am tremendously excited to be here at Carver Road.  I know that the Lord has a unique plan for this church and I am humbled to be a part of it.  My passion is to develop Fully Committed Followers of Jesus Christ.  I trust that by the preaching of His word and living out the principles learned for it that this is what is needed to change this world for the cause of Christ.  I love you and can’t wait to serve you.
